C7H5NS2
M.W. : 167
CAS : 149-30-4
EINECS : 205-736-8
PROPERTIES:
NURCHEM MBT-80 is a medium fast and scorchy accelerator for natural and synthetic rubbers. Vulcanisates accelerated with MBT tend to have low modulus, very good ageing properties and little tendency to discoloration. But care should be taken because it has a slight tendency to scorch.
It is suitable for NR, IR, BR, SBR, NBR, IIR and EPDM but is unsuitable for products connected with food stuffs due to its bitter taste.
It can also be used as a retarder for sulphur-modified CR.
NURCHEM MBT-80 readily disperses in rubbers. It is very active at temperatures above 130-135° C. It can be used alone but low temperature curing can be achieved by the use of TMTD, TETD or DPG as secondary accelerators.

Compared to a traditional EVM/EP(D)M binder, NURCHEM MBT-80 allows :
l Dust free products with a high level of filtration up to 38 μ.
l Tack free products at room temperature.
l Lower Mooney viscosity, improving quality of dispersion.
l Scrap rate reduction thanks to filtration.
l Wider compatibility with other elastomers.
